Check out the empty storefront.

You walk down the path towards the storefront. The brick path is free of leaves, and as you approach the door, a cool breeze brushes past your shoulders.

You peer through the glass. It's clean, like someone recently wiped it down. Not like you'd expect from an empty storefront. The same vinyl fake wood flooring that's in each of the stores, from what you can remember, stretches back into the darkness. But beyond a few feet, your eyes can make out nothing.

There's something rectangular on the floor, so far into the shadows you have to strain your eyes to make out its form. It's not at an angle, like something that's been dropped or knocked over, but aimed straight into the darkness, towards where the back wall most probably is.

1. Try the door.
